In his new book, Fritz Wepper recalls a near-death experience. The actor fought for his life in 2011 after undergoing emergency surgery. His dog Aron was to blame for the medical incident.

Gmund, Tegernsee – "I'm only a human being with a dog": This is the title of the autobiographical work by actor Fritz Wepper (82) and his wife Susanne Kellermann (49). But it's not just his own life that is the subject of it, it's much more about the dogs that Wepper raised over the course of his life. As bunte.de writes on the basis of the book, there were not only beautiful moments with the four-legged friends. His love for hunting dog Aron almost cost him his life.

Fritz Wepper: Incident with dog led to emergency surgery

In 2010 the furry nose came to Wepper and Kellermann. The following year, a painful incident occurred, which was initially nothing more than a scratch for the actor. He paid no further attention to his wound. It wasn't until the night of the first day of filming of the new season of "For Heaven's sake" that Wepper noticed a clear pain in his arm. After work, he visited a surgical clinic, but even there the seriousness of the situation was not recognized.

However, because Kellermann remained stubborn, Wepper consulted a doctor friend. Preliminary diagnosis: blood poisoning. The "Derrick" actor was subsequently admitted to the emergency room. A decision that probably saved his life. "If Fritz hadn't come to the clinic, he wouldn't have survived the night," Kellermann, a doctor friend, is said to have explained.

Wife Susanne saved Fritz Wepper's life

However, there was no quick healing. For two weeks, the doctors did their utmost to keep the now 82-year-old alive. His arm was almost dead at the time, only an emergency operation could save him. Wepper's thanks went above all to his attentive Susanne. For Aron, the debacle had no consequences, until his death a few years ago, the dog always remained at the side of the family.
